While I was still in Portugal, last month the Global Commission on Drug Policy published its latest Report, recommending policies that are "more humane and efficient, based on scientific evidence, principles of public health and human rights".
The report focuses on harm reduction, the end of criminalisation for possession and use and the regulation of the drug markets.
"We are driven by a sense of urgency. There is a widespread acknowledgment that the current system is not working, but also recognition that change is both necessary and achievable", writes the Chair of the Global Commission.
